Recipe: Oven-Grilled Lobster with Herb Garlic Butter

How does lobster on Christmas Day sound? Sounds good to me ;)

Last year, we were gifted a live lobster by the MySeafoodMart team. This was my first time cooking a live lobster, but with the help of Google and some YouTube videos, we managed it!

When buying a live lobster, it is important to note that you should cook them within one day of purchasing them. To store it, we kept it in the fridge in a box with some damp newspaper. Basically, we cut the lobster into half, and then place it under a grill for a few minutes. We dotted it with some herb garlic butter to finish. A simple and nice way to enjoy fresh seafood! :)

This would be a great starter to serve during Christmas time :)

Recipe by Baby Sumo
Preparation time: 2 minutes
Cooking time: 5 minutes
Serves 1-2

Ingredients
1 live Boston lobster (600g)
Olive oil

For the herb garlic butter
A small bunch of chives
50g butter
2 cloves garlic, minced

1. Using a large pointed chopping knife, locate the centre of the cross conveniently located on the top of the shell, and push the point vertically through the shell and down through between the eyes. Turn the lobster around and cut down through the tail. Twist off the claws.

2. Preheat the grill (240°C). Line a baking tray with foil and drizzle lightly with olive oil, then place lobster flesh side up on the tray and place under the grill for 1 minute, then flip to shell side and cook for 1 minute.

3. Remove from grill, flip back to flesh side up and apply herb garlic butter and place under hot grill for about 2 minutes, to finish off.

4. Serve immediately.

Beautiful, sweet and succulent meat
